Used Polaris Sportsman 570 Buying Guide for Louisville Riders
6 in stock · inspected · free delivery to Louisville & Southern Indiana
The Sportsman 570 is the workhorse of Polaris's ATV line. It hauls, plows, tows and trail rides without drama, which is exactly why so many show up used — and why condition varies so much from one machine to the next.
This guide covers what actually matters when you shop: which model years changed what, whether EPS is worth it, how to read hours against miles, and the parts that wear first. The units below are Sportsman models we have in stock right now. Every one has been inspected by our shop and photographed before listing, and we will shoot a walkaround video on request.
Model years in plain terms
The Sportsman 570 replaced the 500 H.O. for 2014 with the ProStar 567cc single and fuel injection. Early units (2014–2020) are solid but basic. For 2021 Polaris refreshed the platform: stiffer frame, better front-end geometry, improved sealing on the front gearcase and a cleaner dash. If budget allows, a 2021-or-newer machine is the easier used buy. Trim names to know: base, Premium (adds EPS and alloy wheels on most years) and Trail or Ultimate packages with bumpers and winch.
EPS or not
Electronic power steering adds real money used — often $500 to $1,000 over a comparable non-EPS unit. If you plow snow, run a front rack loaded, or ride rocky trails, EPS is worth it. For flat farm work or short property use, a non-EPS 570 steers fine and leaves one less system to think about.
Hours vs miles
Read both. A 570 showing 1,500 miles and 150 hours lived on trails. One showing 400 miles and 400 hours spent its life idling, plowing or crawling — harder on the belt and cooling system than the odometer suggests. Rough rule: under 100 hours is light use, 100–300 is normal, past 300 ask for maintenance records.
What wears first
- A-arm bushings and ball joints — grab each front wheel at 12 and 6 and check for play
- Drive belt — listen for squeal from a stop; ask when it was last replaced
- Front differential — the Hilliard clutch should engage AWD smoothly; grinding or binding is a repair bill
- Wheel bearings and tie rods — common on plow machines
- Racks and frame mounts — cracks mean overloading
Signs of hard use
Bent racks, a winch with frayed cable, mud packed in the frame rails, milky front diff fluid, and mismatched tires all tell a story. So does a seat torn at the front edge from constant standing.
Fair price ranges
Clean 2014–2019 units typically run $4,000–$5,500. Low-hour 2021+ machines with EPS commonly bring $6,500–$8,500, and our current Sportsman inventory sits between $6,900 and $8,900. See everything in Side-by-Sides and ATVs or browse the full inventory.
