Soft Pull vs Hard Pull: Powersports Pre-Approval Explained in Clarksville

175 in stock · inspected · free delivery to Louisville & Southern Indiana

A lot of riders put off financing questions because they are worried about their credit score. Fair. But the difference between a soft pull and a hard pull is simple, and knowing it lets you shop with real numbers instead of guesses.

Short version: our pre-approval starts with a soft pull that does not touch your credit score. A hard inquiry only happens later, when you pick a unit and submit a full application to a lender. One purchase usually means one hard pull, not a pile of them.

Every unit below is in stock, inspected by our shop, and photographed before listing. Get pre-approved first, then shop the grid with a budget you trust.

What a soft pull actually is

A soft pull is a read-only look at your credit. Lenders use it to estimate what you qualify for. It is the same kind of check that happens when you look at your own score in a banking app. It is not visible to other lenders and it does not change your score at all.

Our soft-pull pre-approval works this way. You answer a few questions, we get a realistic picture of your budget, and your score stays exactly where it was. You can do it from your phone before you ever look at a bike or a side-by-side.

What a hard pull is, and when it happens

A hard pull is a full credit inquiry. It happens when you choose a specific unit and a lender underwrites an actual loan. Hard inquiries show up on your report and can move your score a few points for a short time. That is normal and expected when you finance anything.

The key point: the hard pull happens at the end, not the beginning. You browse, you pick, you commit — then the inquiry happens. Not before.

How many inquiries does one purchase create?

Usually one. We finance through local credit unions and banks, and when we shop your application, credit bureaus treat multiple auto and powersports inquiries in a short window as a single event for scoring purposes. So comparing lenders for one purchase does not stack up damage.

What hurts scores is scattered applications over months — a card here, a loan there. One focused purchase does not work that way.

Questions before you apply

We are minutes from downtown Louisville over the I-65 bridges, and until the Clarksville showroom opens on December 1, 2026 we sell online and remote-only. Call (812) 924-1039 during business hours and we will walk you through it, or request a walkaround video of any unit that catches your eye.

Questions riders ask

Does getting pre-approved hurt my credit score?

No. Our pre-approval uses a soft pull, which does not affect your credit score. A hard inquiry only happens later, when you submit a full application for a specific unit.

When does the hard credit pull actually happen?

After you choose a unit and submit a full loan application to a lender. We finance through local credit unions and banks, and the hard inquiry happens at underwriting, not during pre-approval.

Will shopping multiple lenders create multiple hits on my credit?

Generally no. Credit bureaus treat multiple vehicle-loan inquiries made in a short window as a single event for scoring. One powersports purchase typically counts as one inquiry.

Can I finish the whole purchase without visiting a store?

Yes. Until our Clarksville showroom opens in person on December 1, 2026, we sell online and remote-only. We offer remote signing and free delivery within 150 miles, covering Louisville, Southern Indiana and all of Indiana and Kentucky.

Can I trade in my current bike or side-by-side as part of the deal?

Yes, trade-ins are welcome. Start with our online trade value tool so your trade number is part of the budget before the hard pull ever happens.
